Thank you Gwenny Penny for the only photo related to sewing the likeness of Michigan!

Here will be my little page devoted to Quilting. At first, it was going to say in Michigan, but my readers are not all from Michigan.  And I want you to help me grow the list, so I can’t say just in Michigan

I live in an area that has quite a few shops, and I’ve done a little driving just to get some fabric.
(Thank you Cabin Fever Shop Hop!)
If you have a shop you think the world should know about, (okay, my readers should know about. lol) then please share!
I like shopping online, but brick and mortar shops are still the best place to get your fabric!

First, are the shops that I have visited, in no real order…

The Stitchery  Howell, MI  (a good mix of fabric, some great reproductions and florals.  Classes offered.  A Elna and Janome sewing machine dealer)

Monarch Quilts Brighton, MI (a lot of pretty modern prints, some really great classes and friendly staff)

Creative Quilt Kits Brighton, MI  (They have a HUGE batik selection!  Don’t let the name fool you, they aren’t just kits.  There are entire rooms of bolts to look through)

Jennifer’s Quilt Shop  Pinckney, MI  (a great mix of modern, civil war and other repros, as well as some good solids and novelty prints)

Wendy’s Simple Stitches (doesn’t exist anymore, but I miss it very much.  Wendy used to do business out of a little yellow house on D-19, right by I96 in Howell)

The Quilter’s Garden Fenton, MI (only been once, had a good selection of kits.  A large selection of fabric, didn’t have enough time to search fully)

Mabelena’s Ortonville, MI (super friendly staff, teach me something new every time I’m there! Repros and modern, great selection)

Guildcrafters Berkely, MI (an amazing and large selection of fabric, but I’ve not had a very good experience with the staff, and I’ve shopped there at least four or five times.)

Linda’s Country Quilt Shop Davidson, MI (one of the best selections of civil war and other repros, the two times I’ve been there I was strapped for time so couldn’t fully look around. =(  Always our last shop on the shop hop.)

And here will be where I add all the shops you suggest!

  1. The Quilt Patch – Tecumseh, MI: MY ALL-TIME favorite shop!!! Tons and tons and tons of fabrics… bring a project that you want to buy fabrics for or you will probably feel overwhelmed!

Queen Bee Quilt Shoppe in Grand Rapids, MI: amazing owners and a plethera of stuff in her shop

    • Brenda at the Queen Bee Quilt Shop is amazing! Her little shop fits a lot of stuff in it. She even has a discount nook. Not to mention her longarm is setup in the shop and they are routinely running it while they are open, though she doesn’t teach or let people use it 😉
